Established as a continued family tradition built on the experience we have gained since 2001, Ketene Bitkisel Üretim ve Tekstil San. Tic. A.Ş. is the first and the only domestic company that laid the foundations of the hemp industry in Turkey and we are preparing to become an active player in the textile, chemicals and the future food industry with our professional identity as a base where innovative ideas and new art practices are analyzed.  

Being established with one hundred percent equity, the company has already produced an equity from hemp fibers and seeds and has taken important steps to develop high added value products from the hemp plant to address the needs of the country in order to become a major actor in the trendy future habits and for its use in the industry.  It currently carries out R&D studies in collaboration with universities for producing high value-added products from the fibers and chips obtained from the cultivation and processing of hemp.

While studies for producing fiber, yarn and fabric from hemp fibers for the textile industry are going on, we have reached success in producing fiber from the jute obtained from the hemps we cultivate using our domestic seeds.  Following the production of the yarn consisting of a blend of 50% hemp, 50% cotton fiber obtained by combining our hemp fiber with cotton, we carried out the washing, softening and dyeing processes of the fabrics make of yarns we produced, completely with organic products.  

We managed to carry out all phases of production in-house from cultivating the hemp plant to the production of the final raw product.  As a result of the contracts made with yarn, knitting and weaving plants for the production process, we carried out our high-capacity industrial trials.  We are now ready to launch the industrial production as a result of all these efforts.  We are continuing to process 800 tons of hemp stalks obtained through our last three-year production in our plant in Vezirköprü district of Samsun province, to produce semi finished raw products using the machinery we have developed.  The machinery we have developed are capable of separating the fibers from the stubby sections of the stalks we obtain.  While the fibers are used in the textile industry, the remaining stubby sections of the stalks are processed as animal litter and mulch-turf.  Additionally, we are one of the few companies in the world that is in control of all stages of production from the field to the final product.

As Ketene A.Ş., we are “aware” that hemp, which is a talismanic plant is a gift to the earth in return for the respect we show for our planet and humanity.  We consider the use of hemp, especially in areas such as textiles, accessories, food and even health, as a very logical and valuable solution for us to live in a sustainable world.
